check this out, Kenny and I paid (pardon the language) 2 Fucking swiss francs just to go pee at the train station's toilets. That works out to be S$1.30 per person. No I didn't take a photo of the toilet because the attendant was there and yes the toilet is very clean but so what?!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27632384.post-46426878851117405222007-09-19T04:16:00.001+08:002008-12-09T09:52:04.278+08:00Still alive and KickingSorry folks for the time taken for this post. I know it's been sometime but I can't help it. I have been extremely busy with lessons, project meetings and socializing. All the stress from school work is starting to build up and honestly, I'm getting worried. Though it's seems early to be worrying though it's week 3, I should. The first project presentation is due in 3 weeks. As usual, French for me has been half-past-six but compared to others, I'm only slightly better given the fact that I've taken French lessons before nonetheless I still suck at it cos all what I've been taught in the past have been returned back to the previous teachers with interest included.

Health wise, I'm on the way to recovery from a flu and really bad sore throat. All that dry and cold weather together with beer, my body has really taken a beating. Talking about weather, it's fxxxking freezing out there. Temperature's around 3 degrees and dropping with snow predicted tomorrow or the day after. Just opening the balcony door now is enough to freeze my ass off but since I'm still hungry after my cup noodles, I'm heading out with 2 other friends for some burgers. Yes I did had my dinner, a huge plate, somehow am still hungry. Hopefully you guys will see a different Brian when I get back....hopefully bigger in size, thats what all of you wished for isn't it?

Some photos as promised:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ajPsCaxEtx8/RvBgvMnaF8I/AAAAAAAAACU/wnZ6NoFuGQw/s320/DSCN2775.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5111691941022144450" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ajPsCaxEtx8/RvBg_MnaF9I/AAAAAAAAACc/xVLOVToSvJA/s320/DSCN2777.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5111692215900051410" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ajPsCaxEtx8/RvBhOMnaF-I/AAAAAAAAACk/LfXvbG7jSwE/s320/DSCN2787.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5111692473598089186" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ajPsCaxEtx8/RvBhcMnaF_I/AAAAAAAAACs/b76bVlfmM00/s320/DSCN2793.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5111692714116257778" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ajPsCaxEtx8/RvBhscnaGAI/AAAAAAAAAC0/N58jghl8IzE/s320/DSCN2807.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5111692993289132034" />

More to come...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27632384.post-58963800002286363322007-09-06T16:15:00.000+08:002007-09-06T16:39:23.523+08:00Greetings from Switzerland!Bojour!!! Here I am after almost one week of madness. There were alot of problems with my journey to my university here in Leysin, Switzerland. Firstly my baggage was overweight and I had to pay a total of SGD800. Mad right? In the end when I reach Geneva airport, I realised that the SGD800 I've paid for wasn't worth the money at all because out of 3 luggages, only 2 appeared. Apparently one was still in Amsterdam as it was unable to catch up with the flight. Well in the end it did arrive, in the afternoon in my school and yes I am so going to ask KLM to refund me the money.

When I reach the school, goodness, the administration is total bollocks. Everything was so messy and dis-organised and they never cease to amaze me with their incompetence. Wrong time tables given out, wrong rooms and stuff. Academically wise they are ok but administration and infrastructure wise, it's just a pain in the arse. Take the internet for example, everyone's having so much trouble getting online and yet internet is one of the most basic necessities and further more, the school constantly asks us to check our school email everyday. How are we supposed to do that when the internet is so unreliable and SLOW! They should have a look at the queues outside the IT department everyday.

Food wise, well I've been eating combat rations in the army so I'm not too picky. The food's edible but not exactly great tasting...my friends are having trouble adapting though. View wise is excellent, the mountains, trees, and even a little snow. Yes, snow-capped mountains, and the weather's cold here around 9 degrees and going down even more at night especially when it rains. Will upload some photos soon when the internet decides to allow me to do that.

Work wise, madness...lots of Course Work, Reports, Projects all awaiting. 11 modules all together this semaster....I am so going to die. Trust me, it is tough transiting from a NS-Man back to a student again. Well tomorrow I would be heading down to the village to walk around and hopefully shop abit for some daily necessities and on Saturday to Aigle, the bigger town at the bottom of the mountain. Will take more photos, till the next time I blog again, take care my friends. Au Revoir~!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27632384.post-74863495016842695362007-08-31T17:19:00.001+08:002008-12-09T09:52:04.452+08:00Switzerland here I come....Hoooo~!!! I'm leaving tomorrow night....

KLM B772 PH-BQE
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ajPsCaxEtx8/RtfdeeBFSvI/AAAAAAAAACM/1TEVt0tDCVM/s320/B777.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5104792218171165426" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27632384.post-61228226148340061452007-08-28T02:49:00.000+08:002007-08-30T04:32:52.035+08:00FIAT Grande PuntoYeah got the car today....FIAT Grande Punto, quite a nice drive. Looks good especially on the outside and inside both pretty spacious and comfy as well (Styled Guigaro the same guy who designs Maseratis). Drive overall, I'ld say the pick up's quick but slow on the slopes and not much power on the high gear, well after all it's only a 1.4L engine but its still a rev-happy car and it's economical. Filled the tank half and the meter's dropped a tiny bit after going from Ubi to Woodlands, to Orchard, Raffles Place, City Hall and to Dempsey, Toa Payoh and back home in Tampines. A continental car, it comes with all the standards like well insulated cabin (Low wind and road noise). Comes with a Blaupunkt cd-player too which if I'm not wrong, is quite expensive and the interior's really quality. Driving around corners were easy as well given the good grip on the road and the best thing is its safety feature, rated 5-star (NCAP Rating UK).

So we went down to Cafe Amigo for a good dinner and drinks at Dempsey, Kelvin's place, Quarubar. Honestly, Dempsey's a place I wouldn't be to keen to go to without a car but today's a different case. Leaving this Saturday so I'm only having a few more days to drive around and yes I haven't started packing yet.

Photos for today up soon....

Great video showing the interior as well

FIAT Grande Punto "Italian Job Remix"
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27632384.post-73035640299006073802007-08-25T14:45:00.000+08:002008-12-09T09:52:05.649+08:00ORDWhat does ORD mean to you? Since Shu's blog already has 881's trailer, I'm putting up Gone Shopping. I shall not copy and paste the entire synopsis here but I urge you to visit the official site listed below. I bet it's gonna be quite refreshing to catch Kym Ng in a serious role given her usual comedy style of hosting and acting. As for Adrian Pang, I've liked his shows all the while especially the dedication he puts into every role he takes on. I'm alright with normal pin-prick kinda blood test like those to determine ur blood group but today's to test for any Hepatitis and HIV so the need to draw blood and that I DO NOT like. The last time I did it was mad, they had so much difficulty finding my vein so literally they stabbed the needle in and topoed around causing a significant amount of pain. Well, it was slightly better today....apparently the medic was experienced, having stabbed at least 3 persons already so he was pretty much ready when it was my turn. Everything went well, got the vein the first try but half-way through it went bad....this other medic accidently knocked into the table...I cursed under my breath...the pain shot up through my arm. Now, my arm's really numb and I'm attempting to type using one hand. According to Wikipedia, Nattō (納豆, Nattō?) is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans, popular especially at breakfast. For some, nattō can be an acquired taste due to its powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky consistency something like blue cheese. Stirring the nattō produces lots of spiderweb-like strings. The nattō itself has a nutty, savory, somewhat salty flavor that belies its odor.

Nattō is supposed to be a healthy food as well and is indeed backed by medical research. One example is Pyrazine contained within nattō. Pyrazine is a compound which in addition to giving nattō its distinct smell, also reduces the likelihood of blood clotting. This may help to avoid thrombosis, as for example in heart attacks, pulmonary embolism or strokes. Nattō also contains large amounts of Vitamin K, which is involved in the formation of calcium-binding groups in proteins, assisting the formation of bone, and preventing osteoporosis. More medical benefits include antibiotic capabilities and it's effects on cancer prevention.

Alright, enough of all that Wiki-crap, today I'm gonna eat nattō. I can't remember when was the first time I ate it but my dad made me so was the first time I ate Uni (Raw sea urchin).... it was in some sushi shop and I was forced to try. It really smelt like wet socks but after trying it, it was a different experience just like eating durians and smelly tofu. Now I've grown to like it and I must say it's quite tasty. So here we go, I'm gonna show you how the Japanese eat it as part of their breakfast and you most likely will get this if you stayed in Ryokans when travelling around in Japan.

Nattō comes in 2 ways that I know, in styrofoam containers or in small little cups. Check out The Marketplace at Raffles City or Isetan at The Lido if you intend to buy some. You'll need some really hot rice, an egg, bowl, chopsticks and your nattō.

When you open it up, you'll see a packet of tsuyu (soy sauce) and a small packet of karashi (mustard). How do I feel now as my ORD date is approaching at the same time? I don't know how to put it, bittersweet I guess. Many consider me to be somewhat lucky being able to get the chance to head to somewhere nice to study and experience how life's like beyond the sunny shores of Sillypore. Well, true to a certain extend, but there are many question marks ahead that I can't seem to answer for now. Yes, it's a degree but how much will it help me I wouldn't know, I can't tell the future thats for sure so all I know it's just like a ticket to opportunities. What kind and how much nobody knows. All I know is that it costs quite abit and I've gotta pay off the bank loan when I'm back. I also know that in order to have my name printed on that paper, I will need to work my arse off given the fact that I've not even taken an exam for like 2 years ever since I'm in the army?

It's always easy to say screw it, just go, nobody else has the chance, you have so what the hell are you complaining about? It's not that easy, yeah I should have thought of all these before I set out on enrolment. Yeah I did but it's one of those things like even after you tell yourself you should, you're still worrying about the what if.

The only bloody answer to all that crap above is simple. I have too much fxxxing time on my hands so I start worrying too much. Lately, everyone around's me talking about money and it suddenly dawn on me that at this age, I don't have an income yet. No bloody asset or passive income and yet down with liabilities already.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
